Bogota’s Botanical Gardens

The José Celestino Mutis Jardn Botánico de Bogotá was named after a Spanish botanist, mathematician, and priest in 1955. The Botanical Garden, which spans more than 20 hectares, focuses on the Andean and páramo ecosystems. It is Columbia’s largest Botanical Garden, and it is used for both research and recreation. 

Some noteworthy features of the garden include the rose garden, waterfall, Andean Forest, herb garden, indigenous settlement, exotic plant collection, and, of course, the Cattleya trianae orchid, Colombia’s national flower. 

If you’re a plant enthusiast, this is the place for you since here you can appreciate the beauty of many plants from different climate, altitude, and region of the Columbia. 

Los Soches Agropark

Los Soches Agropark, on the southeastern side of the Bogotá savannah, is one option for a rural outdoor experience while touring Bogotá. 

It has a modern process implemented that improves agricultural and livestock practices developed over the years which promotes the region’s sustainability. The park contains a village with people going about their lives within. The park is treated and recognized as a symbol of sustainable urban and environmental tourism, and it is the ideal venue for a rural experience in the capital city.

Eastern Hills
