Here is what you should see on your trip to Guyana:
Kaieteur Falls
The world’s largest single drop waterfall, at 741 feet high, Kaieteur falls remains one of Guyana’s biggest attractions. A visit to its edges will be sure to leave you mesmerized by its sheer size and power. Located within the country’s rainforest in the Potaro-Siparuni region, the waterfall can be accessed via small plane through the Eugene F. Correia International Airport. Typically, the flight takes an hour which is followed by a short walk to various viewing points. Since the waterfall is located within the portion of Guyana that is unpopulated, availability of flights to the site is dependent of quantity of people that wish to visit at any given time as well as the weather.
The average cost for the tour is $256 USD however this is dependent on the Airline or Tour company chosen.
Orinduik Falls
Located on the Ireng River in the Potaro-Siparuni Region of Guyana on the border of Guyana and Brazil where the water thunders over steps and terraces of red jasper before merging with the Takutu River on the way to joining the Amazon River.
The Orinduik Falls are situated amid the rolling, grass-covered hills at the edge of the Pakaraima Mountains and is a wide, multi-tiered series of cascades making it an ideal waterfall for swimming. The Waterfall is approximately 25 m tall and more than 150 m wide.
Given that the Falls is about 30 minutes away from the Kaieteur Falls most airlines and tours offer a combo tour to Kaieteur and Orinduik for an average cost of $350 USD.
Georgetown
Georgetown, Guyana’s capital city is located on the northeastern coast of the Atlantic Ocean. With its 285 miles of beige coastlines, Colorful pastel homes, and boulevards lined with flowering trees it would do you good to take a small aircraft or a helicopter over the town for an unobscured view. A towering view of the city is unbeatable but if you want to walk among the locals, tours can be arranged for you to bike/walk through the capital.
Sites to see include many of the country’s administrative and financial services centers, the iconic Stabroek market, botanical gardens, and much more.
Georgetown is renowned for its tall painted-timber St. George’s Cathedral and other British colonial buildings, the architecture and cultural makeup reflect a divine Caribbean ambiance.
